HP 4300 59.4 EP MOTOR ROTATION ERROR

The HP 4300 has two drive motors on the right side of the printer. One drives only the toner cartridge and the other drives everything else. The printer was designed to stop and display a 59.4 error if the toner cartridge drive motor should fail or the toner cartridge locks up. In cases where the drum drive gear melts onto the case of the toner cartridge from lack of lubrication, or in cases where the wiper blade flips and puts excess strain on the motor, there have been cases where the socket on the main drive gear in the printer breaks and then the printer displays the 59.4 error. The replacement part for the entire gear assembly is RM1-0001. Pictured below is the socket on the main drive gear that broke.

HOW TO CLEAN THE PRINT HEAD NOZZLE ON EPSON PRINTER CARTRIDGES

Instructions Clean Nozzles on an Epson Printer :
  • Power on the Epson printer and lift open the top case. Wait for the ink carriage to slide from the right into view and then unplug the power cable from the electrical wall outlet.
  • Remove the screws holding the top half of the printer into place, or pull it off entirely if your Epson model does not have enough room for maneuvering with the top open.
  • Bend back the plastic tabs that hold the plastic covers into place over the ink carriage. Pull the plastic covers off of the carriage and then set them aside. Pull off the plastic tabs on the sides of the carriage
  • Pull off the two plastic clips that hold the ribbon cable into place that are connected to the carriage. Disconnect the cable by grabbing both sides of the connector and then gently lift it straight up. Set the cable aside.
  • Remove the screw (if necessary) that holds down the plastic piece that was connected to the cable. Remove the plastic piece so that you can see the rectangular print head.
  • Grab both ends of the print head and carefully pull it out of the printer. Spray some Windex on a soft cloth or sponge and carefully wipe the print head down. Let it sit for a few minutes to dry and then place it back in the printer. Re-assemble the printer and attempt to print again.
